(Thailand), in collaboration with Surrey school board located in vancouver, BC, is proudly announcing this scholarship contest event that is to allow less fortunate schools and families the chance to send their kids to study abroad. An English test shall be organized as to allow the best 30 students the chance to come to our office and explain to us in person why they should be chosen to be the lucky one! Outstanding performances in school and co-curricular activities, willingness to learn a new language/culture and strong personalities shall be what we will look for in screening and conducting the scholarship screening.

High school studies to Canada

Being in contact with school districts throughout Canada and USA, Worantex (Thailand) is proudly informing you of the possibility for your students to be part of a learning experience abroad.

School placements are available for both short and long terms (either for one, two or three months, for one semester {5months}, a full year {10months} or long term placements {2-3years}). The program is offered to students between 12 and 18years of age. No prior knowledge of English is needed as these programs are developed to transform a non-speaker into a fluent speaker of English as a second language.

The “slep” test is to be conducted upon arrival in the host country in order for the student to be incorporated into the right ESL class.

The school year in Canada starts twice a year: at the beginning of September or February. Summer programs are also available for students who would wish to go abroad right after their school year in Thailand to study English for a period of two-three months prior for the normal school year to start. Thai students are to be fully immersed and integrated into normal Canadian/American classroom which are of usually only 25-30 students.

Where shall the placed Thai students live? Canadian / American schools offer the possibility for their international students to stay with host families. Those families are carefully screened; criminal background being checked, house being inspected and the student being visited periodically once placed with his/her new family. There are also some schools that offer the possibility for their international students to stay together in a campus or residence within the school facility.

Where are those immersion programs organized? In many parts of Canada (Victoria, Vancouver, and the Rocky mountains region in British Columbia, Calgary in Alberta, Regina in Saskatchewan, Ottawa in Ontario and Montreal in Quebec); and throughout USA, therefore having different options and region to offer to interested applicants.

Who shall be responsible for the student once in Canada? A custodian or legal guardian is to be appointed and shall sign a notarized declaration of responsibility. The custodian is to be the one to be contacted in case of emergency, problems with the host family or with the school. She/he is also to be in direct contact with Worantex and with the Thai parents, if needed.

STEP 1
complete the application form @ Worantex

STEP 2
Include the following:
· A copy of the Student’s Birth certificate
· Letter of request from the parents
· Transcript of academic records from the past two years (copies must have a school stamp)

STEP 3
Worantex Submit application to the Canadian School board

STEP 4
Once application is accepted, you will be notified to pay full tuition. The letter of acceptance and registration package will be issued when tuition is received.

The School Program – is for one academic year, semester or trimester and begins between July/September or in January depending on the ESL program needed. Worantex(Thailand) students live with a host family and attend a local secondary school as full-time students.

Summer or Intensive Programs – are for one to three months. These programs focus on homestays, language skills, community service or cultural activities. Participants mostly live with host families, participate in educational activities and enjoy their new communities.

CUSTODIANSHIP: Immigration Canada requires that all students under the age of 18 or 19 years old(age depends on province) have a legal custodian to act in place of a parent in times of emergency such as when medical attention is required. Applicants must provide the custodian declaration forms, one signed by the parent or legal guardian in the country of origin and one signed by the custodian in Canada. The custodian declaration forms must be notarized if student visa must be obtained.
